Altar Server Training
Altar servers enhance the quality of liturgical celebrations by assisting the priest and deacon at Mass and other liturgies. This is a great way for young people to learn more about the Mass and to take an active role in the Church family. Boys and girls, who have received their First Communion, are invited and strongly encouraged to join the Altar Server ministry at Holy Angels Parish. Training (for new and experienced servers) will be held on Sunday, September 25, at 3:00 p.m. in the Church. At least one parent is asked to stay during the training.
Communion Ministers
The Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are lay persons who are trained and authorized to carry out this sacred ministry at Mass and other liturgies whenever there are insufficient numbers of Ordinary Ministers to distribute Holy Communion. Willingness to serve as a Communion Minister, reflects a response to one’s Baptismal call to serve. Men and women, aged 16 years old and older, who have received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist, and, if married, are in a valid Catholic Marriage, are invited and strongly encouraged to join this vital parish ministry. The Communion Ministers Training (for new and experienced Communion Ministers) will be held on Tuesday, September 27, at 6:00 p.m. in the Church.
Lectors and Commentators
The Word of God, proclaimed in the sacred Scriptures, enlightens our minds and hearts. When the scriptures are read in the liturgical assembly, God speaks to us and calls us to respond in faith and love. The ministry of the lector is important to the life of the Church; for the lector proclaims God’s living word. The Commentator provides the faithful, with a brief introduction to Mass, with the purpose of introducing them to the celebration and preparing them to understand it better. Willingness to serve as a Lector and/or Commentator, reflects a response to your Baptismal call to serve. Those who are gifted with these skills are invited and strongly encouraged to join this vital parish ministry. Training (for new and experienced Lectors and Commentators) will be held on Thursday, October 6, at 6:00 p.m. in the Church.
