This sacrament is often referred to as "last rites." In recent years, the Church has moved away from this language, because it suggested that the Sacrament could be received only once and that it was to be received only in the last moments of life. This is not true! The Anointing of the Sick can be received more than once and in fact it should not be put off until a person is close to dying.
The Anointing of the Sick should be celebrated with a priest prior to surgery or during an extended illness. The Sacrament may be celebrated at various stages of an illness. The Sacrament can also be administered to those who are advanced in age.
Please call the Parish Office, 949-3308, to make arrangements for anointing.
